How did I install NT 4.0 on Samsung.
Samsung currently does not officially support NT 4.0 on SENS Pro 600. This does not mean you cannot use NT at all, but merely mean you need some extra efforts to get it work. Below I summarize efforts needed to obtain the following NT 4.0 environments:
When you turn on the computer, press F2 key to enter BIOS setup. Turn off plug-and-play BIOS and disable COM2 port.
You must turn off plug-and-play BIOS to get PCMCIA driver recognize installed PC card. You must disable COM2 port to properly install modem card.Mount the CD-ROM drive into your computer and connect the floppy drive as an external device. Put NT setup floppy disk into the floppy drive and turn on the computer. Do not plug in the LAN card or Modem card.
Do not configure network right now. That is, when the setup program asks if you want to connect to the network, answer 'NO.'
Before installing network, make sure that your computer recognizes PC card; in the control panel folder, double-click 'PC Card (PCMCIA)' icon. If it displays a status of PC slots of your computer, you can proceed to installing the Ethernet card. If it complains "PCMCIA controller is not found" or something, it is likely that you did not turn off plug-and-play BIOS. Check (1) above.
To install the Ethernet card, turn off your computer, plug in the LAN card, and turn on your computer. Perform installation procedure described in the manual of the LAN card. In the case of TDK LAK-CD021BX double-click "network" icon in the control panel folder. Everything should go well and you will proceed to configure network. Setup network as you like.
TDK says that they provide latest drivers in the web, but I couldn't find one.
To install the modem card, turn off your computer, plug in the modem card, turn on your computer. Perform installation procedure described in the manual of the modem. In the case of Logitec LPM-FM560, double-click "modem" icon in the control panel. Everything should go well and you will proceed to configure dialup network. Setup dialup network as you like.
Neither Windows NT 4.0 nor SENS Pro 600 provide a high-resolution display driver for Cirrus. Obtain CL-GD7556 driver for NT 4.0 directly from Cirrus logic . Or, you could obtain the one I fetched from there at 1998 Jan 9. Follow the instruction described in the obtained files to install an appropriate driver.
